Smafolk Nursing Pillow

7 Jun

Hot Hot Hot! Danish Smafolk’s brand new nursing pillows fall to the ‘Need’ category for expectant mums. There are various colours available and since we found it exceptionally difficult to choose a colour from all the lush alternatives we went for the multicoloured apples at Hei Moose. Mr Moose has also confirmed that these are c-o-o-l.

Smafolk Nursing Pillow

Available either with a pillow and cover (the ones we have at Hei Moose) or just a cover (you’ll need to google them) these pillows provide support to find a good position for breastfeeding. When breastfeeding MiniMoose ages ago I also found myself using my nursing pillow back then for sleeping, as a pillow for travelling in a car, MiniMoose’s pillow support for the floor etc etc.

These pillows aren’t the cheapest at the market – RRP at around £59.90 but they are the funkiest breastfeeding pillows I’ve seen for a while!

Villervalla at Hei Moose

Yes, I’m far too excited to write a proper post about this, but a few weeks ago Hei Moose got contacted by 3 lush labels in a one day (within an hour to be precise) which lead to our first Villervalla order! Impkids, who previously was the exclusive UK stockist for Villervalla is now their distributor as well and we had the chance to order current season clothes! As you may remember I earlier wrote about how I wanted to have Villervalla when I set up Hei Moose. So now when the opportunity arrive, we didn’t hesitate to get in some bold stripes and fruits! See our Villervalla collection here

Kappahl, Lindex and H&M

21 Feb

The usual trio on the Nordic High Street is Kappahl, Lindex and H&M. They are all big chains that offer affordable, stylish clothing for women, men, children and babies. H&M is obviously well known in the UK, but not many know about Lindex or Kappahl. Lindex opened their EU wide online store over a year ago and hence deliver to the UK. Kappahl, however, is currently only based within Nordic Countries. What is similar to all the three of them is that they make lovely funky children’s wear that I tend to stock up on my visits to Finland. I’ve listed some of my favourites below.

Kappahl:

Lindex:

One similar brand to Lindex and Kappahl is Danish Name It, that is also available on Hei Moose!

One more post before I go to bed…

A couple of weeks ago I finally joined Pinterest. I was actually adding Fancy, Tumblr and Pinterest buttons to my shop when I decided to try it myself and got immediately hooked.

I spent the next few days pinning things and getting addicted to other people’s pinnings. It is just so easily done, even if you aren’t that techy like me.

So far I’ve pinned my favourite Nordic design and interiors images, food pictures (big mistake, get far too hungry when looking at them) and some children’s things. Obviously it’s an ongoing process, so my pinterest page is far from finished. But take a look if you’d like to get to know me better! If someone needs a pinterest invite, let me know, since for pinterest account you currently require an invite, although you can browse the pictures without one.

Hei Moose part II

3 Feb

So what is Hei Moose actually?  Online shop selling funky Nordic designed baby and children’s clothes for kids aged 0-4. The brands we stock are Smafolk, Duns Sweden, Maxomorra, Name It, Znok Design, JNY Design, Geggamoja, Kram Barnklader and PaaPii Design. Some of these are well known Scandi brands, like Smafolk and Duns Sweden, but in addition to these I have wanted to bring some less known smaller brands like Znok Design and JNY Design to the UK to make the shop unique and give the UK shoppers more choice!

We have just finished our January Sales and are waiting new Spring Collections from Duns Sweden, JNY Design, Name It and  Geggamoja. In addition, we should get on with buying collections for Autumn 2012 but I keep putting that of just because there are too many fab things to choose from and I can’t decide!!

Launching Hei Moose

3 Feb

I thought I’d introduce my online shop straight away and then get on with other things.

The idea of Hei Moose was actually my husband’s idea. I used to buy all MiniMoose’s clothes from Finland which then got lots of attention in the UK. My husband suggested why not turn my ‘little’ shopping habit into a business. I had my doubts about it but my husband aka MrMoose was very encouraging.

Hei Moose was launched last October after 9 months of preparing, planning, designing and general chaos. During the process I also broke my leg and spent 3 months on my mum’s couch in Finland healing it and writing product descriptions.

The plan was to launch The Moose in September which meant that the Autumn collections had to be ordered in January. In addition to this the site planning, navigation etc took a couple of months and zillions of emails between me, my graphic designer and a web programmer.

One of the most challenging parts of the process – well in addition to learn to hobble with crutches – was to decide on a name for the shop. I remember that evening when the graphic designer came around for branding briefing and we ended up brain storming names and my husband finally came up with Hei Moose i.e Hello Moose to combine Finnish ‘hi’ and Nordic icon ‘moose’. Also the name is meant to be short, snappy and memorable!

Running the shop has been great fun. It has its up and downs but I like some things (like browsing collections, going to fairs etc) more than others (VAT returns, accounting). It is also my own project and gives me something else to think in addition to being a SAHM.
